Our Story.

Our story began with a simple idea: rowing should be for everyone. Hope on Water (HOW) emerged as a response to the lack of access and diversity in the sport, focusing on breaking down the barriers that prevent many young athletes from many communities from participating. HOW is committed to making rowing more inclusive by providing financial support, mentorship, and early exposure to the sport. Through tailored programming and supportive networks, HOW empowers youth to develop lifelong skills that contribute to their academic, personal, and athletic success. HOW isn’t just about rowing—it’s about creating a pathway for brighter futures and lasting community impact.

Missions & Values.

Hope on Water’s mission is to improve life outcomes for historically marginalized communities by increasing access to the sport of rowing. We assist young rowers from diverse backgrounds in underserved communities, focusing on early exposure and quality programs that significantly impact academic achievement, career success, and overall well-being. Through our programming, mentorship, scholarships, and education, we foster an inclusive and supportive atmosphere where young athletes can thrive, achieve their maximum potential, and succeed in higher education. Our lifelong community of support unlocks the full potential of individuals and communities to prosper and thrive.
